Q & A with Dr. Hoenig:
Restylane is great, now fat transfer?
"Im 30 years old and I read about the TDL eye procedure. I think it would benefit me perfectly because I got a filler under my eye area and I looked great!
I still have some puffiness in my upper eye area but the bottom really bothers me. Do you offer online consultations or do you recommend anyone in the Chicago area for the TDL procedure? I would love to come to you but im in Illinois"
There are two fillers I use under the eyes: your own fat or Restylane. Not everyone is a good candidate for fat transfer. In fact, I turn away alot of people who want fat transfer (TDL) under the eyes because their eyelid skin is too thin and they simply do not have enough tissue to cover the fat without it looking lumpy, even though it's placed deep.
So, just because the Restylane looked great doesn't necessarily mean that the fat transfer would look great. I would need to see you in person to know for sure. After doing fat transfer under the eyes for 12 years now, I have a good sense of who is and isn't a good candidate for the procedure. At least half of the people I see are better off with Restylane, although it doesn't last as long as fat.
In my practice, Restylane under the eyes usually lasts about a year (sometimes several years). Fat can least for years and years.
I'm afraid I dont know anyone in Illinois to refer you to for this procedure. If you would like more information, feel free to email the office directly at info@drhoenig.com.
